The Shaman and the Spirits Of The Four Directions
Acrylic on canvas

To any expert viewing this painting you can probably tell there is a clash of western and eastern cultures .One being the Celts , the other Native american. The reason why I chose these particular cultures is because a few months ago I was introduced to the spirit animals of the four directions .Kenti is the hummingbird of the North direction of the Q'ero medicine wheel. This tiny creature represents courage and perseverance. Otorongo jaguar of the west represent renewal and transformation. Sachamama serpent of the south is about healing ,sexuality and knowledge and last but not least the great eagle Anka of the east. The eagle energetically bring transcendance, the ability to move beyond the roles, identities, addictions, and diagnoses we have either shackled ourselves to, or have been laid upon us.These animals just seemed to click with me and I have been working with home ever since.Saying their special prayer for the opening of sacred space. As for why I picked the Celts is because I am Irish and Celtic culture is very much part of my heritage.I represented this culture through blue war paint and the leather outfit the shaman is wearing.I guess in way the shaman represent me or some form of divine feminine goddess.
